Kathleen McHugh is a Seattle painter who was awarded her BFA from the Cornish Institute in 1982. Her work has been selected for juried shows nationally and internationally including Painting and Sculpture '87," Tacoma Art Museum, Curated by Howard Fox (LACMA curator of Contemporary Art), 1999 Sense Of Place, Galeria Tonantzin, contemporary women's art, Women's Caucus for Art, San Juan Bautista, CA , Curated by Phyllis Peet PhD- Woman Made Gallery, Chicago, 2004 Women Trauma and Visual expression art documented, Curated by Amy Stacey Curtis.  Through Dr. Raul M. Oyuela, Director, The Museum of The Americas,  her work has been in several international exhibitions, selected presentations of artist work, and publications which were distributed at international art fairs in the United States and an Europe including ART DUBAI March 2009 and ART DUBAI 2011, ART SANTA FE 2009,  CARROUSEL DU LOUVRE, October 2009.  In March 2009, the book Arte Euroamericano, in which her work is represented, was archived in the library of the Museo De La Mujer, Buenos Aires, Argentina.  Her work was published in " The Book of Contemporary Women Artists " winter 2010, which was archived in the Library of Congress, the Rutgers University Library that specializes in women studies, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C.  In 2009-10, at the request of Barbora Klimova at Galerie Mladych, Czech Republic,  she participated in a project which was part of the exhibition Formats of Transformation – Identity, exhibited from the 17th of November 2009 to the 10th of January 2010 at the Brno House of Arts , the Gallery of the Good Shepherd in Brno, and the Museum auf Abruf in Vienna.  Her work is in “A Book About Death”  which is a collaborative project conceived by american artist Matthew Rose for the Emily Harvey Foundation in New York City, where the original exhibition took place from September 10 – 22, 2009, and the continuation of the project "Um Livro Sobre A Morte", at the Museu Brasileiro da Escultura - MUBE – Museu Brasileiro da Escultura, São Paulo - Brasil, February 2010, organized by Angela Ferrara.  Complete sets of “A Book About Death" are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art (Library), and the LA County Museum of Art Research Library and  the permanent collection of the MUBE – Museu Brasileiro da Escultura, São Paulo - Brasil.  Her work is in the Museum of Modern Art, Wales, juried ABAD exhibition, spring 2010, curated by Sonja Benskin Mesher RCA, and is part of the permanent MOMA Wales museum collection.  She participated in the installation 'Objects of the Dead' at Barratt Galleries, Alstonville, Australia, June 2010, Grafton Regional Gallery, Australia January 2011, Napier Street Gallery, Melbourne, Australia August 2011, curated by Julie Barratt.  She has been selected for the project 100 Artists/ 100 Dreams, curated by  Sadee Brathwaite, New York, fall 2011- To quote  Ms. Brathwaite's description: " The Film features visuals, audio and text by 100 contemporary artists.  Narrated in parts in the languages of the international participating artists, the film crosses multi-cultural and multi-dimensional barriers. The Film will debut during Ione's 15th Annual Dream Festival in October 2011 in KIngston, New York".
